Dr. Sukhamoy Barik is one of the leading Gynaecologists, Obstetricians, Laparoscopic surgeons and, last but not least, the best Normal delivery doctor in Kolkata.
He has been performing advanced gynaecological laparoscopic surgery, Conventional Gynaecological Surgery (both abdominal and vaginal), Painless Normal Delivery, Caesarean Section for high-risk pregnancy and Uro-Gynaecological Surgery for urinary incontinence in Kolkata for a considerable period. His unmatched success rate and breathtaking excellence have made him the best laparoscopic hysterectomy surgeon in Kolkata.
His academic journey has been a learning curve throughout. He graduated with MBBS from Medical College, Kolkata, the first medical institution in India and Asia. He completed his postgraduate (MS) in Gyne & Obs from Vivekananda Institute of Medical Sciences, Kolkata, otherwise known as the Sishumangal Hospital. Later, as a senior resident doctor, he joined the department of Gynaecology & Obstetrics, Sishumangal Hospital, Kolkata. He spent almost two years there learning and performing complex Gynaecological surgeries, Laparoscopic Surgery and Infertility Management throughout his residency period. He worked with Dr P Das Mahapatra, Spectrum Clinic, Kolkata, to enhance his laparoscopic surgical skill during this period.
Dr. Sukhamoy Barik is the first gynaecologist from Kolkata to secure an Advanced Laparoscopic Surgery fellowship under Dr. Shailesh Puntambekar. He worked as a fellow at Galaxy Hospital, Pune, for six months under the world-famous renowned Onco Surgeon Dr Shailesh Puntambekar. During his fellowship at Galaxy Hospital, he did many advanced Gynaec laparoscopic surgeries like Total Laparoscopic Hysterectomy (TLH), Laparoscopic Myomectomy, Laparoscopic surgery for Endometriosis, Laparoscopic Radical Hysterectomy for Cervical Cancer, Endometrial Cancer.
Coming back from Pune, he joined Ramakrishna Mission Seva Pratishthan (Sishumangal Hospital) in 2015 in the Gyne & Obs department. There, he performed many Laparoscopic Gynaecological Surgeries, published many papers and trained junior doctors in laparoscopic surgeries.
He had the opportunity to undergo Fellowship in Minimal Access Surgery (FMAS). He underwent training in Gynaecological and Obstetrics Ultrasonography for six months under the guidance of Dr A K Roy at Health Care Diagnostic Centre, Kolkata.
